International Dance Day at Nepal Music Center: Celebrating Movement, Culture, and Expression Since 2011. Nepal Music Center (NMC) has proudly joined the global celebration of UNESCO's International Dance Day, held annually on April 29 and initiated by the International Theatre Institute (ITI). As part of its celebrations, NMC honors veteran dancers in Nepal who have made significant contributions to the field, recognizing their lifelong dedication to preserving and promoting the art of dance. Over the years, NMC’s celebrations have included: Dance performances and award ceremonies, recognizing accomplished traditional artists; Collaborations with dance schools and practitioners, showcasing a blend of classical and contemporary dance forms; Events hosted in Kathmandu, with vibrant performances by both students and veteran artists in genres like Nepali folk, classical, and modern dance. These events not only celebrate Nepal’s diverse dance heritage but also provide a meaningful platform for students to showcase their talents, gain stage experience, and engage directly with established artists. It fosters creativity, confidence, and cross-generational exchange within the performing arts community.
