In October 2024, Nepal Music Center (NMC) had the honor of hosting the GLOMUS Camp, a vibrant international gathering of artists, educators, and students in music and performing arts. As part of the Global Network for Higher Music and Performing Arts(GLOMUS), the camp welcomed over 100 international participants from 31 universities across 21 countries, along with 65 local Nepali participants, for a week of collaborative workshops, cross-cultural performances, and creative exchange.
Held in the heart of Kathmandu at the Gokarna forest resort, the camp featured:
Music and theatre workshops
Collaborative performances
Discussions on sustainable arts education
Cultural excursions
The Participants came from a wide range of institutions, including world-renowned schools such as Berklee College of Music (USA), North Carolina Central University (USA), Saint Louis College of Music, Rome (Italy), University of the Arts Helsinki โ Sibelius Academy (Finland), Royal Academy of Music Aarhus (Denmark), Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil), University of Cape Coast (Ghana), Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia), and University of Cape Town (South Africa) โ to name just a few.
ย The event showcased Nepal as a hub for global artistic collaboration. For many participants, it was a first encounter with Nepalโs rich heritage; for NMC, it was a proud moment of hosting and connecting global voices through the power of art.
The GLOMUS Camp 2024 was not just an event โ it was a celebration of unity through creativity, and a significant step toward international cooperation in the arts.
