Barta Gandharva

A little girl from Gandharba community, Bhojpur Ms. Barta Gandharba reminds her audience of the old classic voice of Tara Devi and Anna Lama, two of Nepal legendary popular singer. Barta and her father used to travel to Sankhuwasabha (Tumlingtar) Diktel, Lukla, Namche Bazaar for earning.

All her life Barta has been living on scholarship and aid. Ms. Gandharba applied residential scholarship in Nepal Sangeet Vidhyalaya and she got selected. In NSV she got a chance to upgrade her sarangi lessons with renowned teacher and also got many more national & international exposures. From NSV, She has been sent as a music teacher to Faculty of Fine Arts, Music Department, University of Alder (UiA), Kristiansand Norway for 9 months under FK-Exchange program. There she taught Nepali traditional folk melody to the students of UiA and performed in many schools. She has also participated in a lot of recordings done by students and teachers at the faculty. Along with her classes in the school, she has also obtained her college degree from Lalit Kala Campus.

Barta is currently involved in many music projects across country.
